When I think of fall, the first things I think of are sweaters and riding boots, but booties aren’t too far down on the list of stereotypical autumn clothing. And just like any other in-season item, the online selection of ankle boots is insane. From wedges to flats to heels. Faux-leather, suede or genuine leather. Brown, leopard print or fire-engine red. They have it all! So, I’ve saved you a little bit of time shopping around this season by compiling a list of nine very different booties that caught my eye (and don’t even ask how much time I spent perusing the internet for these guys). No matter your style, there is an option for you.
I recently styled one of my own pairs of booties in this blog post right when the weather started to cool down. If you’re like me and just like simple and black, check out my post. Unfortunately, my exact pair is no longer available (I got them a while ago), but I’ve linked a similar pair for you to check out.
September weather has been crazy here in the midwest. Some days it’s 80 degrees; some days it’s 67 degrees. It’s completely necessary during this time of the year to have a few transitional outfits for summer/fall. With this outfit, the bright colors and playful tassels of the scarf create a summer feel while also keeping me warm on cooler days. On the other hand, the material and sleeves of this dress feel like fall… while still being light and flowy. Another way to make this outfit warmer/cooler is by adding tights and riding boots or adding a simple pair of sandals. Today I picked sandals because it wasn’t too chilly out!
Another bonus of this versatile outfit is that it is soooooo comfy. I can comfortably walk to and sit in class in this dress. Basically, the $30 some dollars this dress cost me was well worth it because I will have an infinite amount of opportunities to wear it.
Are you in the Champaign-Urbana area? While shooting for this post, Ty and I found the super cool Miles C Hartley Selections Garden, Noel Welcome Garden and Idea Garden that are provided by the University of Illinois’ Arboretum. It is definitely a must-see if the weather is right. The lighting was too harsh while we were there to take pictures, but hopefully we’ll be able to next time, and I’ll be able to share it with you all.
So what do you think? What is your favorite outfit for this unpredictable time of the year?
I’d been searching for a floppy hat that I could wear on the beach all summer. When the 60 degree weather rolled around, my hopes of finding my perfect floppy hat were gone. Then I stumbled across this beauty – it was just a little different than I thought it’d be. Floppy hats aren’t just for the summer. This wool hat is the perfect accessory for the fall. Paired with a clean pair of jeans, booties, and a neutral shirt, I’ve got the perfect outfit, but the nice thing is, it’s a highly versatile accessories (AKA you’ll be seeing it again). The outfit possibilities are endless.
I showed off my hat for the first time this past Saturday for a casual walk and trip to Jamba Juice with Ty. He came to visit for a long weekend and is so obsessed with Jamba Juice. We went three times this weekend?! I tried the Razzmatazz and Caribbean Passion (make it Light!). He’s a die hard Strawberry Surf Rider fan. Yes, he got it all three times.
Saturday was just the first of many times I’ll be wearing this hat! I want to know:
Happy Labor Day (and Bid Day)! I hope you all had a nice, relaxing day off of work/ school. Today I’m sharing my favorite beauty, fashion and food essentials from August.

You may all be wondering about my bid day, but stay tuned for a “life lately” post, where you’ll get to see snippets of my day (and find out what our theme was). Yay! It has been a long, tiring two weeks of school, but it has been totally worth it. My last year of recruitment is over and seeing all of the new members running up to the house makes you feel like your hard work has paid off.
How was your weekend? How did you spend your extra day off?
